To Work With Launching DWG Compare Utility

 
 
 

Highlight the differences between two revisions of the same drawing or different drawings using the DWG Compare utility.

Launch from Ribbon

  1. Click Collaborate tabCompare panel DWG Compare.
  2. In the DWG Compare dialog box, click Browse to select the first drawing file.
    NOTE:If you are launching the utility from your current drawing, then the filepath for the first drawing is automatically filled. But, if your current drawing is a compare result drawing, then the filepath for both the drawings are automatically filled.
  3. Click the color icon to change the default color settings for the objects that exists only in the first drawing.
  4. Browse to and select the second drawing file that you want to compare with the first drawing.
  5. Click the color icon to change the default color settings for the objects that exists only in the second drawing.
  6. Click Compare. A contextual ribbon tab is opened that provides you with various review options. The default name for the comparison result file is Compare_First Drawing's Name vs Second Drawing's Name.

Launch from Application Menu

  1. Click Application menuDrawing UtilitiesDWG Compare

    NOTE:You can launch the DWG Compare utility from the Application menu even when you do not have any opened drawings.

  2. In the DWG Compare dialog box, click Browse to select the first drawing file.

    NOTE:If you are launching the utility from your current drawing, then the filepath for the first drawing is automatically filled. But, if your current drawing is a compare result drawing, then the filepath for both the drawings are automatically filled.

  3. Click the color icon to change the default color settings for the objects that exists only in the first drawing.
  4. Browse to and select the second drawing file that you want to compare with the first drawing.
  5. Click the color icon to change the default color settings for the objects that exists only in the second drawing.
  6. Click Compare. A contextual ribbon tab is opened that provides you with various review options. The default name for the comparison result file is Compare_First Drawing's Name vs Second Drawing's Name.

Launch from Command Line Interface (CLI)

  1. At the command prompt, enter COMPARE.
  2. In the DWG Compare dialog box, click Browse to select the first drawing file.
    NOTE:If you are launching the utility from your current drawing, then the filepath for the first drawing is automatically filled. But, if your current drawing is a compare result drawing, then the filepath for both the drawings are automatically filled.
  3. Click the color icon to change the default color settings for the objects that exists only in the first drawing.
  4. Browse to and select the second drawing file that you want to compare with the first drawing.
  5. Click the color icon to change the default color settings for the objects that exists only in the second drawing.
  6. Click Compare. A contextual ribbon tab is opened that provides you with various review options. The default name for the comparison result file is Compare_First Drawing's Name vs Second Drawing's Name.
